Improving the Quality of End-of-Life Care in the ICU: Interventions
That Work
February 17 & 18, 2006
Miami, Florida
To help all critical care professionals overcome barriers to
provide the highest
quality end-of-life care, the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM),
with funding support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has developed the informative conference Improving the Quality of End-of-Life Care in the ICU: Interventions that Work. During this two-day educational offering, participants will
learn successful interventions, optimal standards and proven practices that promote quality
palliative care for patients and their families in the critical care setting.
Participants will analyze new models of ICU care that spearhead change,
encourage shared decision-making and promote better communication skills. World-renowned thought-leaders in end-of-life care will identify valid and reliable
measures directly developed from their ground-breaking research and from clinical practice.
Additional resources and materials will also be identified to promote awareness
and encourage leadership to advance quality end-of-life critical care.
