Karyn Bjornstad Collins, M.P.A., joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's National Program Office Promoting Excellence in End-of-Life Care in September 2002. Karyn's professional background is varied, and includes experience in urban planning, nonprofit management and health care administration. Prior to joining the Promoting Excellence team Karyn worked in the community health center arena, first as the Director of Planning and Development and then as Executive Director of Partnership Health Center, a community health center serving the Missoula area's medically underserved residents. Prior to her work at Partnership, Collins was the Managing Director of the Institute of Medicine and Humanities, a cooperative venture between The University of Montana and St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Karyn's undergraduate degree in English Literature is from Whitman College, and she received her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Montana. Promoting Excellence in End-of-Life Care was a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation dedicated to long-term changes in health care institutions to substantially improve care for dying people and their families. |
