Curriculum for Mental Health Providers
The Curriculum for Mental Health Providers emphasizes the development of the end-of-life care
movement, its foundation in advance care planning,
appreciation of capacities and preferences of people with
serious mental illness to participate in advance care
planning, and local end-of-life care (hospice/palliative
care) resources available to provide care
to terminally ill mentally ill clients.

Educational Toolkit for Hospice and Palliative Care
Providers
The Educational Toolkit for Hospice and Palliative Care
Providers emphasizes signs and symptoms of various
psychiatric illnesses, methods of communication with
psychiatric patients, how to describe bad news to a
psychiatrically ill person, information about psychiatric
emergencies in the terminally ill, and how to access local
mental health resources to assist in the provision of care.
The Educational Toolkit includes:
- The Hospice and Palliative Care Guide to Psychiatric
Issues in End-of-Life Care
- A document that lists topics, tools, references and
comments based on evaluations and needs assessments of 350
providers
- Breaking Bad News
- A PowerPoint presentation for social workers,
nurses, and other related disciplines
- References
