This pain scale is a modification of the Wong-Baker Face scale designed for use with Alaska Native patients who were unable to relate to the faces/expressions on the original scale.

How the grantee used this instrument:
The pain scale was distributed to the patient by a nurse when patient was accepted into the program. During visits, patient and caregiver could use the scale to explain level of pain. When the nurse couldn't visit, the scale was a useful tool for pain assessment over the telephone.
